Inveraray & District Pipe Band are 2009 World Champions at Grade 2, from 2008 World Champions in Juvenile - and this success is the biggest story of the lot. The band, in its 4th year of competition, was World Champion in the Juvenile Grade last year, promoted to play in Grade 2 in 2009, has been unbeaten all season and has now won the World Championships at that level, in a field of 26 - taking also 1 of 2 firsts for its piping and the first for its Drum Corps. It has now won the Scottish, British, European and World Championships this season. What can you say? Just listen. Well done to the band - even though you do wear the Campbell tartan (just Kidding!!!)

The World Pipe Band Championships were held on 15th August at Glasgow Green. 210 pipe bands, 274 performances, 63 Drum Majors, over 8000 pipers and drummers from 16 nations competing for the title of World Champions over the 8 competitive grades.

Making pipe band championship history, those in the crowds were joined by many, many more via the Internet as the BBC kindly transmitted their live feeds and streamed the Grade 1 arena across the Globe from the morning qualifier through until the march past and results.
