OBAN:
The
waterfront Restaurant. Forget the look of the
place - the restaurant occupies the first floor of a
former seamans' mission which was built in 1963 -
everyone is here for the food. Chalkboards list the
daily specials, which are whatever has come in on the
fishing boats that day. Thus you can expect the likes of
a trio of local seafood, local langoustines and Loch
Creran oysters. The Waterfront restaurant - which is
listed by The Good Food Guide, Michelin and Pete
Irvine's award winning Scotland the Best - also
'Scottish Restaurant of the Year 2001-2002', as awarded
by trade association and food guide publisher Les
Routiers.
Ee-Usk sits on the water's edge in the very heart
of Oban. Views over Oban Bay to Kerrera and the Mull and
Morvern Hills are magnificent. Ee-Usk means 'Fish'
(Phonetic Gaelic). Fish is what we they famous for
- local catches impeccably fresh to your table.
All of our shellfish is locally caught and delivered
alive to Ee-Usk. Our wet fish is local with the
exception of Sea Bass. The MacLeod family have been
operating seafood restaurants locally for over 20 years.
We believe that on the west coast of Scotland we have
the finest product in the world. For this reason we
serve as simply cooked as possible. Paul and
Liz (mcleanscotland) have dined here and can recommend
it! pix below.

LOCH
FYNE: To
be found at the head of Loch Fyne The
Oyster bar, Shop and Smokehouse is highly
recommended by us, it is just south of Inveraray. The
Creggans Inn, famous for its fresh seafood, on the
opposite side of the loch to Inveraray, you will find
this delight in the village of Strachur.
EDINBURGH:
Skippers Seafood Bistro. Leith's original bistro,
Skippers has been serving up fresh, quality seafood for
over 25 years. Our philosophy is simple yet timeless -
serve only the freshest seafood and produce matched with
carefully chosen accompianments allowing the flavours to
shine through.
Creelers serves fine Scottish food with both
seafood and game on the menu. Tim and Fran James bring
fresh fish from their own boat, smoked products from
their own smokehouse and game from the Isle of Arran to
their restaurant, just off the High Street on
Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile.
The Doric has been embedded in the Edinburgh
dining scene for over 40 years being noted for its
friendly and informal atmosphere. The Doric uses the
finest of fresh Scottish ingredients to create
traditional and modern Scottish dishes.
Locals and visitors alike flock to the laid-back Fishers
pub-cum-bistro down on the waterfront, and to its sister
restaurant, Fishers in the City, in the New Town.
Both have the same menu, but Fishers Leith opened first
and is still the one with the better reputation and
vibe. Bar meals are served, but for more comfort and
elegance sit in the cozy blue-walled dining room.
Seafood is the specialty -- the Loch Fyne oysters are
wonderful.
INVERNESS:
The Mustard Seed is a highlight of dining
enjoyment. From our experience of eating in The Mustard
Seed, I couldn't fault anything. Given menus, spoken to
politely and drinks order taken. What can I say, I will
go back time and time. Paul McLean.
