as above, Ensign Ewart captures the French Eagle.  For those interested, there is a pub in Edinburgh named after him, just a wee bit down from the castle.

The Scots Fusilier Guards Colour Party leads the regiment's attack on the Great Russian Battery.  Lieutenant Lindsay carries the Queen's Colour; Lieutenant Thistlethwayte carries the Regimental Colour.  Of the party, Lieutenant Lindsay, Sergeants McKechnie and Knox and Private Reynolds were awarded the Victoria Cross.  The Queen's Colour received 24 bullet holes and the staff was shot in half.  BATTLE OF ALMA CRIMEA
