The band were selected to play in front of 60,000
people at our national rugby stadium Murrayfield,
twice in November 2006. Our national rugby
team were playing The Pacific Islanders and
Australia, we were there! For the Islanders
there were 4 bands, whilst at the Australian game
there were 5 bands in total. Of course we
looked the best!!!
18
November we left Denny by coach to travel to
Edinburgh, MURRAYFIELD STADIUM the home of Scottish
Rugby. The band were one of four bands chosen to
entertain the crowds before the game. With a melody
of tunes including our anthem: Flower of Scotland.
So who did our team play? The Pacific Islanders, the
score? SCOTLAND 34 PACIFIC ISLANDERS 22. It
was a chilly day but we all enjoyed it - including
Paul McLean who took pictures (as usual) and
accompanied the band. A great time had by all, and -
we are going back next week to do the same again,
this time our team is up against Australia, a hard
game it will be. .....................
The Aussies humped us! Some photos from
that game below, warming
upin the coach park and, marching onto the
pitchfor the islanders game. I forgot
the camera for the Aussies!
RUGBY - the Autumn Series has shown that Scotland
are growing as a team. The Aussie defeat was a
setback and showed that we cannot afford to make
errors - such as not staying on our feet long enough
to get the support players there - but we have the
nucleus of a good squad to go into the Six Nations
and the World Cup.
