mcleanscotland  are local Scots who pride ourselves on showing you the nooks & crannies other tours companies pass on by.   We can show you those hidden gems even Scots do not know!  mcleanscotland diary of a tour guide in Dublin Ireland

My trip to the Republic of Ireland, March 2007. To be honest it was not planned, a phone call alerted me to the fact an Aunty of mine had died and would I go to the funeral?  Of course I would, no need to ask.  So within three days I had my plane booked and arranged to meet up with several cousins, also a night in a very nice hotel to end my trip.  I planned therefore for a 4 night stay.  Off I went from Edinburgh to Dublin, en route to Kilkenny. Oh God do my lot drink!  I just about survived the first day and night including the funeral, dotted off my head with Guinness and Irish whiskey.  Next morning I was dragged from my slumber "c'mon, were goin to Dublin fer the footy game".  I was half dead mysel' and had no greens to wear (football shirt in the Irish colours).  Nae matter we have them for you here, and threw two tops at me.  i dressed and stumbled into a car, off we went to Dublin.  At the gate to the stadium Croke Park, they didna want to let me in as they thought I was drunk (who me?).  My cuz explained and in we went, I slept the first half and missed the only goal.  Och well, I was living just.  We saw out the second half, we won and a boy named Ireland, scored the only goal for Ireland, the first football match in Croke.  Couldn't get better eh.

Off we all went to where? aye, the pub.  I was knackered and secretly sneaked away for a snooze, then I rang a contact and asked for a room in a nice hotel, I got it (favour paid in full thanks).  i made excuses and wandered away for a sleep and revival!  This I got and by 6pm I was fine again.  I toured the hotel with a lovely lassie and ended up in the sushi bar where I consumed some, along with a drink or two.  felt so much better.  Stayed at the bar all night, good criak. Next day I left for another hotel, owned by Bono from U2.  Great place and thanks a bunch for having me.  i enjoyed Dublin City and took pictures (to follow).  Stayed in Dublin another day then came home Monday to work with Liz, oh, work, suppose so.  Now for those who have not been there, you should do, allow us to help you with it, drinking is not compulsory!  Just that you have to do it!  Take in a free Irish show, we know where!
