a prison over in England! Quite apt don't you
think for the Cod father! We are working with
Kenny Thomson to design a tour here in 2009 mid
October time, Ken is shown right, next to his
wife.

Aberdeen
has been awarded the "major coup" of hosting the
European Curling Championships in 2009.
The event will be held in the new Curl
Aberdeen facility and the Linx Ice Arena. The
European Curling Federation (ECF) announced that
the city had been chosen to host the
championships. Aberdeen City Council said: "This
is brilliant news for Aberdeen. The
championships will help to showcase our sporting
facilities." The competition will be the last
major international curling event before the
Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010. Councillor
John Stewart, of Aberdeen City Council's sports
strategy working group, said: "With more than 30
nations from across Europe all taking part in
this fantastic event we are looking forward to
welcoming all the teams to the city. "And it
will provide a tremendous boost to the local
economy." Malcolm Richardson, president of the
ECF, said: "The European Curling Federation are
delighted to have been able to accept the bid
from Aberdeen to host the 2009 European Curling
Championship." Sports Minister Patricia Ferguson
said: "Securing the 2009 European Curling
Championships is a major coup for Aberdeen. "The
city was able to offer world-class facilities
and as a result this event will raise the
profile of curling in Scotland." The
championships will take place between 5 and 12

CURLING SWEEPS USA
December 1, 2006. Curling is now taking
America by storm! Demand for traditional stones
from Ailsa Craig, which cost £4000 a pair, is
unprecendented. A shipment of 13 tins of stone
is on its way to Wisconsin to help clubs there
and also in Florida and California! The World
Curling Federation (WCF) based in Perth (as are
mcleanscotland) have organised this shipment.
Some 46 countries are now members in WCF.
Granite from this Scottish rock is regarded as
the perfect stone for curlers. Peter Fenson of
the US team said “it’s fantastic how much the
game has taken off”. mcleanscotland are offering
curling clubs and associations around the world,
tours in Scotland, the home of curling. “With
an agreement signed with the Royal Caledonian
Curling Club, we are in an enviable position to
assist any curlers from all over the world to
curl here in Scotland, with, some wonderful
sightseeing included” said Paul McLean,
mcleanscotland.
