October 2007 - England & Scotland

ENGLAND SCHEDULE - basic itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Scotland into Glasgow or Edinburgh.  Hopefully an early am  landing, meet and greet by mcleanscotland.  From the airport we will depart south for Liverpool (a city we know plenty about, Paul McLean lived there 20 years and still has some family there).  Stopping en route for courtesy and rest stops.  Arrive Liverpool approx 4pm, check into hotel.  Today as with every day, we will be supplying comprehensive tour notes on the location you stay and the route.
Day 2 all day in and around Liverpool.  Options here can include; a Beatles coach tour, a Liverpool city heritage tour, take the famous ferry across the Mersey!  Lots to see and do here.
Day 3 after breakfast we head south to Bath, some late local sightseeing and check in to Hotel here.
 

Day 4 leave Bath around noon after some free time for Stonehenge.  After our visit here - head to London for overnight.
Day 5 London all day, Lodge meeting and overnight stay here.
Day 6 leave London north with first stop at Chatsworth House for a visit. From here to York where we stay overnight.
Day 7 YORK  again overnight, giving you a free day in the city.  Yorvik Viking centre, the Minster etc etc.

SCOTLAND SCHEDULE

Day 8 leave England for Scotland after breakfast heading for Melrose, this is where the heart of King Robert the Bruce is buried, we make a visit to the Abbey.  After this we take a trip to visit Rosslyn Chapel near Edinburgh, full of fantastic sights as we are sure you know!   The remainder of the day  will be spent in Edinburgh itself for free time. Your accommodation tonight will be in the Edinburgh area.

Day 9 all day free time Edinburgh, will include a Lodge visit and a city
tour by coach, overnight Edinburgh area.

Day 10 after breakfast we head north to Inverness.  Stopping en route several times for sightseeing visits and rest stops.  Arrive Strathpeffer early evening.

Day 11 all day touring locally, Culloden Battlefield, north to Dunrobin Castle and return to Strathpeffer for overnight. Here we will have a  Saunachie (storyteller ) to entertain you.

Day 12 all day trip to our west coast, as we traverse Loch Ness, to Loch Duich and visit Eilan Donan Castle, with views to Skye.  Return via a different route to Strathpeffer for overnight.

Day 13 leave the highlands and travel south, down the main route again as far as Pitlochry, where we turn west travelling along Loch Tay with a stop here.  On to Loch Lomond and south to Glasgow.  Overnight in Glasgow

Day 14 Free time all day today after a coach guided city tour.  Overnight Glasgow

Day 15 transfer to airport for flight home.

Please can you also consider if you wish any evening meals to be included in your tour, we can cost in or out.  We would like to include a include a whisky distillery tour, a private whisky tasting (either in a shop or the hotel). Each day in tour notes will feature options if free time is available
