mcleanscotland
are local Scots who pride ourselves on showing you the
nooks & crannies other tours companies pass on by.
We can show you those hidden gems even Scots do not
know! mcleanscotland of Perth tour company for
vacations to Scotland here are our guides all Scottish
for your satisfaction. The Denny & Dunipace Pipe
Band Andy Grant page for the 2008 season with
mcleanscotland of Perth
Well until he gets his backside into gear, I will
do a write up on his behalf! (Paul).
Andy is a good pal of mine, know him several years
(too many) and he always has a joke, a story or a
beer for me. Stupidly (maybe) I asked him what he
was doin after he stops working for a living, he
said "hopefully working for mcleanscotland".
Oh no, what have I done! he is actually not a
bad tour guide and I know he would do a great job of
it, but being from darkest Aberdeen, do we send many
tours that way? Nope. Suppose we should
but no one has really ever asked us to do so.
He tells me he is
a great Drum Major, a modest man if ever there
was one!
We have often wondered why we give him his own
page? Aye so have many others!
ANDY GRANT's page.
How he does this
no one knows? here is Andy at Scone Racecourse
for the 2008 Perth highland games. Paul took
this, the Royal Army Band of Oman presented him
with two gifts, we all just wonder why?
Okay! Okay! Okay! Stone me!
Paul's a bigger nag than my wife (and THAT'S saying
something!!) NOTE FROM PAUL; THIS ONLY CAME IN LATE
JULY 2008, THE SEASON IS HALF OVER BIG MAN!
Where's my article is all I hear from him! Anyone
would think being retired is easy! The Band are all
still alive is the first thing! We gained a good
number of players to both Bands. Some players left
but more came in which is pleasing for both Bands.
The Grade 4 Band (the Wee Band) is virtually a new
Band and includes a new Pipe Major, another ruddy
Paul! Are they all trying to take over the world or
what?? The Grade 2 band (the Big Band) also
recruited a fair number of players and we now
regularly have sixteen pipers and nearly the same
number of drummers, which takes us back to being the
big Band for which we are known.
They had a good
winter of practising and came out fighting at the
beginning of the season. Only to be met by those
deaf, daft judges again. Not a good first
competition.
They then went to Bearsden in Glasgow and Shotts in
Lanarkshire and cleaned up at both! They both took
firsts in their Grades and the Big Band scored first
in Grade 1 Shotts also! Great stuff. Then came the
first Major competition of the season and had the
Drumming judge liked the drum score (which he
patently didn't!) the Big Band would have taken a
prize there also! That would have been Mark's first
prize at a Major as PM of the Grade 2 band. Shame.
However, are we downhearted??? Not Denny!!
There is also a new recruit within the ranks.
Causing riots and mayhem whenever he appears! Even
had the effrontery to interfere with the Senior Drum
Major in the course of smartening up the Big Band!
Was last seen being chased from the park by the
Senior DM!! Not too far right enough - neither of
them can run too far at the best of times! Welcome
to Graham (Snowy) Winters, the Drum Major of the
Grade 4 Band. Whenever you meet him, please remind
him to which Band he belongs! He needs reminding -
often!
Any of the Fan Club over this year please feel free
to apparoach the Drum Major - he doesn't bite -
especially if you open with the words - 'Can I buy
you a pint Drum Major?' He'll introduce you to the
Band, they'll make you welcome (ask Paul) and you'll
enjoy the craic!
